So I wanted to start a series on my blog, something I could write about monthly that followed a theme, but for ages I found it hard to think of something I do or enjoy regularly enough to post monthly about. I also wanted to do something a bit different to other lifestyle and fashion bloggers out there that I follow. Then I realised it was staring me right in the face, genuinely I was listening to it as I thought, MUSIC!
I listen to music morning, noon and night, when I get out of bed, when I’m getting ready for UNI, in my ears as I travel to and from UNI or work, when I’m cooking, getting ready to go out, when i’m actually out, when I’m cleaning, writing blog posts, in fact challenge me and see if you can find a time when I am not actually listening to music! I grew up in a house filled with jazz, soul, rhythm and blues thrown in with a bit of disco. My music tastes even now still reflect what I listened to when I was young, but I am also quite into house and dance music these days…
Anyway I don’t know about you, but if I hear a song I like I tend to become quite obsessive, listening to it repetitively and subsequently downloading all the other songs by that artist. So hear it is my top 10 ‘October Music Obsessions’..posted in November which was a bit lazy of me, there are no excuses, but I’m working on the November one now too 🙂
1) FJK – Learn to Fly feat. Jordan Rakei
So this is an artist I’ve known for a good year or so, but I only just found out FKJ stands for French Kiwi Juice (pretty cool name!) and his new stuff is just soooo good!! Hence I downloaded more of his songs…
2) FKJ – Open the Door
that guitar melody over the top – melts me every time, and the ending is heavenly!
3) Prince – I wanna be your Lover (Dimitri from Paris Re-edit)
This song reminds me of being at Unknown Festival! I believe it was Seth Troxler who played it at the end of his set, all the lights came up and everyone was dancing it was euphoric!
4) Maribou State – Moon Circles
My friends just saw him DJ in Newcastle and I am super jealous!
5) Nao vs. A.K. Paul – So Good
song was recommended to me by a friend one day to cheer me up, and i obsessively listened to it, so much i can’t listen to it anymore, but it’s just as the title says, so good!!
6) Alt-J – Every Other Freckle
Different to what I normally listen to, but the video was super cool!
7) James Welsh – Craven
Now to tell the truth, i didn’t find this song, somebody else had posted it on their Facebook page, but I find loads of good music like that so it’s totally legit! Please just turn it up really loud on a decent pair of speakers…
8) Tim Deluxe and feat Sam Obernik – It Just Won’t Do
As well as new songs I LOVE rediscovering old ones and this is a classic..lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalaaaa
9) Fat Freddy’s Drop – Blackbird
This is one of my absolute favourite bands, my friends and I went to a gig to see them at Ally Pally a couple of weeks ago and they were genuinely insane, hands down (or hands up?) the best band I have ever seen! They are from Wellington in New Zealand, the trombone player Joe Lindsey is just phenomenal, and he likes to party in his boxers on stage – NO JOKES!
10) Fat Freddy’s Drop – Wandering Eye
Another one of their great songs, it will always reminds me of a great holiday to Spain with my uni friends a couple of years ago, cruising in a car we had hired!
What songs were you guys listening to in October? Or do you have any songs you majorly associate with something good or bad, let me know, i am very interested!!!
