Nosying around Neukolln

You may or may not have noticed from my other social media, but last weekend I took my boyfriend on a surprise Birthday visit to Berlin! He has always wanted to go and it was so nice to spend time together being outside and walking round. A definite de-stress from our daily lives. So I thought I would share with you all the places we went and our recommendations as we were fortunate enough to receive such great recommendations from our Air BnB hosts!

We arrived super early in Berlin and had to have a quick cat nap before we went out! When we woke up we were ravenous, so we headed in the direction of the East Side Gallery and Burgermeister. We had no idea what to expect about this Burger joint. All we knew was that burger’s seem to be a popular choice of food in Berlin and the recommendation was in our lonely planet guide. Lonely planet might not be your first guidebook of choice, it’s got tourist written all over it, but their pocket guides are always really up to date and over the past year the recommendations have resulted in some of the best meals i’ve had….and Burgermeister was no exception.

Under a railway bridge this place shocked and surprised us in a good way. We perched on old bicycle railings and pop-up tables. The burger was pretty amazing, if I lived in Berlin I would most definitely be a regular.

There is a lot of walking in Berlin, so make sure you have comfy shoes. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking around Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg. We found a gorgeous cafe called D’Espresso near Mariannenplatz, the best chai latte i’ve had! That evening we didn’t venture far from our apartment, but we found this amazing French bistro in Neukolln called Beuster, which I thoroughly recommend.
