Just before Christmas (which seems such a long time ago now), me and the fella decided to escape the hustle and bustle of the city once again, but this time on a Stay-cation. Who needs sunnier climes and the attraction of new and unexplored cities when you could travel just an hour or two by car from home, curl up in front of the fireplace and enjoy some much needed time and relaxation with your friends or significant other?
If the January blues are really on top of you at the moment, then consider a short stay-cation. It will be easy on the pockets, easy on your time and will be good for the mind, body and soul. Even though January is my birthday month and I force people to look forward to it, January can be a pretty depressing month, so why not make it this little bit better.
To Do List: Blenheim Palace; Bicester Village; Pub with compulsory fireplace and compulsory glass of wine; a good stroll in the fresh air; Soho Farmhouse; find some good hearty grub.
Safe to say we completed all of the above.
After Blenheim we headed off to our home for the night in The Slaughters…if you haven’t been before it’s like stepping into the surroundings of THE cottage in the film The Holiday. We stayed in an old converted Chapel, which we found on the continually amazing and surprising Air BnB. Sean and I carefully pick our Air BnB’s because it really makes a difference when you love the furnishings!
The inside was so lovely, really rustic and it had this amazing mezzanine floor with the bedroom and a little shower. We opted to cook in with a bottle of wine and watch a film, but we headed across the road for couple of drinks in this lovely pub that had a really big roaring fire and it felt so lovely to have that burning heat on your face and body, to the point where we actually thought we might be getting burnt. Know the feeling? Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the post and will go yourself sometime soon!.
