Holy Cheesus!

Holy Cheesus!

Pardon the pun but this is one hell of a recipe and post for you today, which I can guarantee will make your tummies rumble! Baked Camembert, where to even begin? I know that it is a firm favourite for many of you, but baked cheese is something that can never be overdone and is a must during the festive season! So I thought this would be a good time of year to share with you how I like to serve my camembert, when the weather it is snowing outside and the final of Strictly Come Dancing is this weekend! I am very excited!

Before I move on to the cheese itself, these are my favourite accompaniments. I like to have some cold meats on the board, like salami and parma ham (this is always everyone’s favourite). Lots of crudites – peppers, cucumber, carrots. Fruit goes really well with it too – apples, pears and figs. Cornichons/gerkins are a must. Last but not least – bread! Get a baguette or a fresh soft white loaf to slice.

Next up, how to prepare the cheese!

Get yourself one of these Baked Camembert cooking pots if you haven’t got one already. This is honestly what makes the dish. The ceramic pot gets really hot in the oven, so the cheese melts much quicker and evenly and you don’t get much spillage! This one was given to me as a gift and I really love the French style of it, here is the link! But you can find lots more on Amazon.

Make several cuts into the cheese with a sharp knife, then insert several cloves of raw garlic into the gaps. Squeeze on lots of honey and a couple of sprigs of Rosemary, then put it in the oven and the flavours will really come out in the cheese! Watch out for the cloves of garlic if you don’t want to eat them, personally I think they are delicious!

Serve it up on the table on a wooden chopping board with all your accompaniments so you can dip away to your heart’s content. Couple of glasses of red wine too and you are ready for THE FINAL! Who do you think will win??? Comment below! Xxx
